About Us
Much Hadham Art Society was formed in 1986 by local artist Ian Allen and became established as a firm part of the social scene of Much Hadham and the surrounding villages.
The Society continued to thrive when Frank and Sue Wheeler took over the leadership from 1997 until 2022.
The membership comes from Much Hadham and the surrounding villages, as well as from Bishop’s Stortford, Buntingford and Hertford.

What We Do
The Society organises demonstrations or lectures on the third Friday of most months. These cover the wide range of mediums which our members use presented by experts in their technique.
Tuesday Painting Afternoons - These are held every 2 weeks, except for August and other holiday periods. This is a really good opportunity for members to set time aside just to concentrate on painting in the company with other members, away from the pressures of home life. There is so much to be learnt by seeing other people’s paintings grow and so much to be shared in understanding the struggles we all face in making our paintings work – and sharing social time too over a cup of tea.
The Society also organises well-attended Exhibitions annually to give members the opportunity to show and sell their work. All our events are held in the Village Hall at Much Hadham.

See the events page for descriptions of past demonstrations.
